After a year of seeking God's direction for babyfeet photography, I've decided to make some changes.

I'm happy to announce that babyfeet photography is now real.life.photography. I knew something needed to be changed. I thought it was the logo. I went back and forth between a few but never felt a peace about any of them. Without clear direction, I decided to dedicate 30 min.-1 hour for a few days in a row to pray specifically for my business. I talked to God and listened to what he had to say. I wrote in my journal and he met me. I asked him to give me a name if I was to change it and to give me a clear vision of what the logo was to look like. He did just that. Ever since the first of the year the Lord has been speaking to my heart about being real and not trying to cover up who I really am for the sake of everyone else. The name "real.life.photography" embodies everything the Lord has spoken to me about myself and my photography. I'm very excited about what the future holds, especially because I know it is God that directs my steps and has a plan and purpose for my life. He wishes good for me and not bad.

With this said, after tomorrow the babyfeet blog, website, email and facebook page will no longer be available. You may now reach me the following ways:

Her Feet

I love the following photos! They were spur of the moment shots that will probably be my favorites for a long time.

A friend from church emailed me the other day and asked me if I would replicate a picture she saw for a project she's working on for our Church's upcoming Father/Daughter dance. It's called "On Daddy's Toes" and is a picture of a baby girl standing on her father's toes in a tutu and leggings. I said yes and quickly called my new friend, Sarah, who is also the wife our new worship leader. She has a daughter the age of the girl in the picture and I figured she would also have a tutu and some leggings. She did! She then called her hubby and asked if he would model with his daughter and he was more than willing. We met at our church the next morning when he arrived for work and took some shots in the sanctuary. I'm pleased with how they turned out.

As I was figuring out what my settings would be, Sarah was standing in front of me so I took some shots of her feet for test shots. I always get rid of my test shots because they're usually not worth keeping, but I loved what resulted. The perspective to me is unique and makes quite a statement about her. I love it!

The Benton Boys

I had a shoot back in December that was near and dear to my heart. This sweet mom made a brave choice and has two beautiful little boys as a result. She chose life when the world said she had the right to terminate these pregnancies. I could feel her love and joy for these little guys throughout the shoot and I know that she's happy with her decisions in spite of the inconveniences and whispers. This is why I do what I do. I get to help families tell their stories and capture memories for them for years to come. I am very blessed.

Baby on the Way

My younger brother and his wife are expecting baby #2 at the end of this month and I am so excited! I'm excited because we're going to have another baby in the family and also because it won't be coming from me!

I had the privilege of taking some maternity shots of my sister in law last weekend. We kept it simple, yet creative by staying at her house and using party supplies from her baby shower that was just after the shoot. It was laid back and we had a great time. The perfect shoot!

My best friend and I, along with our husbands, took our kids to a local river this weekend to take family pictures. The scenery is gorgeous anytime, but especially this time of year. Between our two families there were 4 adults and 10 kids. It was wild and crazy, but lots of fun. We've been trying to pin down a date for a long time to take her family pictures, but have been unsuccessful. This weekend, however, we were able to get both families together so that she could be the button pusher for my family photos and I could take hers as well. We've been best friends for almost 10 years and our kids have grown up together so this was also a great time to take some pictures of the kids together as well as very special.

I was so happy to see one of my favorite family's recently. I've been photographing them since 18 month old Carson was still in his mommy's belly. We had a great time at this beautiful location. After a very busy spring, I took the summer off. I realized quickly that I wouldn't have been able to work anyway since my husband started on his Doctorate degree and was hardly home. It's been a very busy and hard summer, but we made it through.

School starts soon and two of my sweet children will go back to school. {Deep sigh!} Back to school time reminds me of the fall and fall reminds me that Christmas is just around the corner. Say hello to my sweet little niece, Haley Jane. She is my younger brothers daughter. Haley Jane will be turning one in May and my sister in law asked me to take a few shots for her birthday party invitation. We took her down to the pond at my moms house and I took just enough shots to get a good variety for the invitation. She is such a doll! I had fun using some new actions I downloaded to edit her pictures, not that really needed much work to begin with. It's just fun!

This is my older brother, Adam, his new wife, Rebecca, and his new step daughter, Abi. Adam and Rebecca were married March 20. It was a very small wedding at my parents home in GA. A couple of days after they were married Adam and Rebecca, along with Abi, left for Indiana. I'm so happy for Adam! He's left everything behind to begin a new life with a sweet woman. He deserves it and I wish him the best! Congratulations, Adam and Rebecca!

This sweet little babe is my neighbor's son. Our daughter's play together often and they are a sweet family. I offered to take his pictures for a couple of reasons. First of all, he is mom's first boy. Also, I think every parent should have their newborn photographed. That little one will never be this size again. Babies grow so quickly!

While my cousin watched my little ones, I ran across the street and spent a few minutes holding and posing this wee thing. At a week and a half, he was already rolling over! After placing a space heater close to the couch he was laying on, I placed my hand on his back to keep him still. He calmed down quickly and I shot away for the few seconds he wasn't moving. This little one was a squirmy wormy!!

This one is my favorite! Mom didn't have time to get dressed for pics, so I just used her hand. She liked this idea.

See this cool couch? It's round! I would love to own one of these to use for a prop!!

Drew and Ben {3 months}

These sweet babies are as different as night and day from their looks to their personalities! Drew is always happy and has a smile for everyone. Mr. Ben is quite serious and doesn't give his smiles away as quickly as his brother. Both enjoying engaging in a conversation with anyone who will listen and talk back. Ben seems as light as a feather compared to his big brother who feels like he weighs as much as a sack of potatoes, which he probably does. I love my boys. They are the perfect addition to our family. I'm so happy to be their mommy!

I had another great shoot with Miss Alabama this weekend. I can't believe it's already been a year since her two week old shoot. She has quite the personality and loves music! Singing was about the only thing I could do to get her to focus on me and smile. I'm very thankful for my years of being a preschool teacher!
This was a very fun shoot! Mom had some fun clothes made and Alabama was quite the diva in her zebra print. I also found a great zebra print chest that was perfect for these pictures. I'm thrilled with how they turned out!

This has got to be one of the sweetest kids I've ever met! During the shoot Mr. Carson kept crawling over to me. I thought he wanted my camera, but when he made my day when he snuggled into my arms for a brief hug. You've got yourself a cutie there, Becky and JC! A Christmas Tradition

Each year Stephen and I get each of our children an ornament to put on the tree that describes something about them or what they're into that year. Most years we get pretty creative and find really inexpensive ones or use toys and just hot glue a ribbon on it. This year I have not had time to spend shopping for ornaments, so I took the expensive way out and went to Hallmark in the Mall. I ended up spending a lot of money...just on the boys. I was ready to be done and "paid" for it...literally. I am happy, however, with the results because each ornament fit each child to a T.

Here are my sweet babies at one month. The time has passed by so quickly! Their physical features are ever changing, especially little Ben. They're also developing their own personalities! Drew has turned out to be the calm, yet constantly hungry one. When he's not hungry he's content to sit in the bouncer and look around for long lengths of time. Little Ben is demanding and always wants to be held. He doesn't really like the swing or bouncer, just our arms. I don't get a lot done around the house, but I have to constantly remind myself that my first priority is to be a mom to these little ones and their brothers and sister and a wife to my husband. If I have done these things well, then I am happy (even if there are crumbs under the dirty dinner table, dishes in the sink and vomiting laundry baskets)!

I wasn't very happy with the pictures of Drew in the twins' first photo shoot so I took more yesterday during the big kids' nap time. It was so quiet and peaceful so I was able to take my time and get some great shots! Drew and Ben are now 2 weeks old. Both are healthy and are gaining weight. Drew is now 7.2 and Ben is 5.11. Time flies and we sure are having fun with our 2 sweet little bundles!

Introducing the Bailey Twins!

The twins are finally here! Drew Richards and Benjamin Wallace Bailey were born Wednesday, November 11, 11 minutes apart. Drew entered the world at 10:59am and Ben arrived at 11:10am. Notice all the 11's! We got a kick out of that! I had an amazing delivery and the boys were healthy. We were able to go home 2 days later. The transition has been smooth and everyone is adjusting well.

With the help of my best friend (and 3 of her little elves) I recently took pictures of the twins. I can't believe they are almost 2 weeks old. These past two weeks have been a blur, but I have so much to be thankful for. They are healthy and well loved. The kids, even my youngest now, love them so much. I am one blessed woman!

I had lots of fun taking pictures of my kids this weekend and editing them. It's been nice having time to get some of them since I'm not working right now. Anyway, the kids and I went to Cracker Barrel on Saturday and I treated the kids to 1 big lollipop each (Oh yes...I had pictures in mind!). After nap time we went out back and I shot away as they enjoyed their sweet treat. Jonathan wasn't really into it because he just wanted to sit in my lap.

I was going to buy pictures of letters of the boys' names for $5 each online, but felt like I should save the money and do it myself. At 36+ weeks pregnant with twins, I can't get out and go on a letter hunt right now, so I had the idea to get some blocks we had and let the kids be apart of it. I like the sepia better than the black and white for what I need. I'm very, very happy with how it turned out!

A Fun Family!

This was truly a wonderful family to do a shoot for. I had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful fall view on the way to and once at their home in the country. I questioned whether or not we were going to be able to do the shoot, but once I got there the weather was great. The cool breeze made it very easy for my 33 and 1/2 week pregnant body to get around. The 3 kids were older this time and I had no problem getting them to pose for me. Thanks M. family for having me! I had a wonderful time hanging out with you guys!

A New Season

I recently wrapped up my last couple of shoots and am done until sometime in 2010. I still have 2 shoots to post, so keep checking back for those. I'll also be taking some of my own children soon and of course the twins once they arrive. For those clients who are on the baby plan, keep in touch. We'll continue with those sessions.

I am looking forward to the changes not only in my own life with the birth of the twins in about 4 weeks, but also to those that will be coming to babyfeet photography. I have some great things planned to improve babyfeet in many ways.

Thanks to all my clients, one time and returning, who made 2009 a great year for babyfeet photography. I truly couldn't be successful without each of you. God bless and I'll see you in 2010!

At the Pumpkin Patch

Here's the sweet trio again, back for a shoot at the pumpkin patch. We were hoping for fall weather, but didn't get it. Instead, this crazy GA weather threw us a curve ball and gave us too much sunshine and humid heat. I was a gross mess after this shoot...but the kids did well and it didn't take very long. Mom had a great idea for the pictures. We are going to combine the apple and pumpkin photos to create a fall book. It will look great with all the colors of fall! I can't wait to see the finished product.

This storyboard is sized 11x17 and will be printed on gatorboard to be hung in the family's home.

The longer I'm in this business the more I learn what works and what doesn't work. I also come across some things that other photographers are doing that I want to try in my own business. With this said, I am making a few changes.

Change 1. DVD slide shows put to music may be purchased for $40 with or without an order.

Change 2. A disk of the pictures may be purchased for $175. You will then have the digital rights to the pictures.

Change 3. Once a gallery has been opened for viewing, clients will have 2 weeks to place their order. Each week after that a $10 fee will be added to the order total. If you place an order on time and want to place another order later, no extra charge will be added.

I love the fall promotion that I have going on right now! It's fun to see the parents getting involved and creative. I had another shoot last Friday with an adorable, but very busy 3 pack. We met at a beautiful location in their subdivision. The apples and wagon, brought along for props, kept them occupied while I got some shots. Here's a few pictures of the cuties.

Kick Off

Well, I kicked off my fall promo with my first shoot on Friday. We had lots of fun with apples and GA gear. Alabama came for her 6 month shoot and boy is she growing! I'm so glad she was sitting up on her own for this shoot! She had a couple of tumbles, but her bows cushioned her falls.
I had to bring along my 2 and1/2 year old because I could not find a sitter. It couldn't have turned out better. He entertained Alabama and got her attention and even a couple of smirks when Mommy and I couldn't!

Can you believe fall will be here shortly? I am very excited about it, especially since it will be cooler! Fall is my favorite season. I love everything about it. I love the changes of the colors, the smells, the cooler weather, the events and the overall ambiance it brings. My family has such a fun time during the fall. It inspires creativity and we love being out in the midst of it.

With that said, I am pleased to announce another promo!! This fall the promo will be all about apples and pumpkins and we are going to be outside, weather and children permitting of course! So sorry for the lack of posts, especially to my wonderful customers! This pregnancy has definitely been a doozy and the summer a very busy one with all 3 of my kiddos being home. The heat didn't help one bit! My older 2 are now back in school and I have enjoyed being able to get lots of house work done. I just wish I could do more, but my body will not let me. I am now 25 weeks and have to pace myself.
Here are a few pictures I'd like to share of my kids on their first couple of days of school and of my belly at 23 weeks. Don't forget...there are two babies in that big ol' belly of mine!

This is HJ, my chunky and hilarious 2 month old niece. She cracks me up with her piggish ways, funny faces and girly coos. I've had the sheer pleasure of keeping her a few times over the last few weeks and I just can't get enough of her. Of course, being a photographer, I had to take advantage of the opportunity and snap some pics of her.

I had the pleasure of seeing A again, but this time for her 3 month shoot. It was late afternoon and she wanted to sleep, but I still got some adorable shots. Her mom brought along some of the cutest outfits and props. My favorite were the strawberry hat and red bloomers. We met at the grandmothers house, which had some of the most beautiful vintage accessories and antique furniture. I felt like I was in heaven! Here's a sneak peak of the shoot. I'll post more when I'm done.

A Big Surprise!

I found out in March that I am expecting baby number 4. Ever since, I have been extremely sick and every move has been an effort. At 11 weeks, I went in for a routine check up and no heartbeat could be found, so my obgyn ordered a sonogram. After previously having had a miscarriage, I prepared myself for the worst. I was in no way prepared for news the sonographer gave me. There was indeed a heartbeat...actually, there were two! TWO! I couldn't believe it. We're going to have twins sometime in November. We're excited that we're going to have twins, but I already have 3 young children so with taking care of them, homeschooling and being horribly sick, I found myself freaking out a little bit! I don't know how we're going to do this, but I know that day by day and grace by grace we're going to get through it.

I'm An Aunt!

My sweet neice was born yesterday, May 1st, at 10:38am. H J came out weighing 8 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 20 and 1/4 inches. She truly is a beautiful baby! I had the priviledge of being able to go with my brother into the nursery to take pictures of her as they weighed her. My kids are so in love already and have had a blast being able to see her and hold her. Here are a few pictures from yesterday. I can't wait to take more!

I can't believe prom season is already here. For me that means that summer is just around the corner!
I took pictures for D. and her date a couple of weekends ago. We went down to the riverwalk because we'd had our eye on a couple of spots. Unfourtunately it was so crowded and those spots were already being used. I remembered a nearby church that was beautifully landscaped so we went there.

I took pictures for my babysitter, D., and her mom this weekend. This is what D. wanted to give her mom for her birthday. A New Addition

I have a bit of exciting news to share! My husband and I just found out that we are expecting number four in December. It was huge shock and surprise, but we're excited now that the news has sunk in. The kids are so excited that they will have another brother or sister, especially Susan who, at four years old, is very motherly. My brother and his wife are expecting their first any day now. The kids and I visited them today and Susan had so much fun playing with her baby doll in Haley's room. We look forward to the days ahead with great excitement and are so thankful for each precious blessing of ours.

Getting My Name Out

My husband and I went to local furniture store tonight looking for a sectional. The first employee that greeted us was a girl named Rachel. I asked her for her last name because a girl named Rachel email me recently for some info. It wasn't the same person, but while explaining why I asked for her last name, I told her I was a photographer. She asked my business name and I told her. She then said, "Oh, your name and business sound familiar. I've heard about you!" I was so excited and just beamed at Stephen. Thanks to whoever you are for the word of mouth!!! Please keep it up! To encourage you, I'm going to start a referal program. I'm not sure yet of the details. I'll let you know something soon. (Kristen, you'll sure be getting something! Maternity Shots

I'm currently still editing the photos from my second shoot, but I couldn't wait to share some of my favorites from it (and to "tease" B). I shot this one at the home of my clients, B and J.C. We wanted go outside but couldn't because of all the rain. They have a beautiful house with a precious nursery and beautifully painted walls, so we didn't have trouble finding great spots. The only problem was that my flash decided to quit working half way through, which made me very nervous, but the pictures turned out well inspite of the malfunction. B. and J.C. I can't wait for you guys to see the pictures!

I had 2 shoots this weekend. The first was of sweet little A. She's almost 3 weeks old and is so calm and sweet. I've been getting the itch for another baby since my niece is almost here. I can't wait. I wish I'd had more time just to hold her, but I had my sister in law's shower to go to after the shoot. Thanks A. and V. for allowing me to spend this time with your family. I truly enjoyed it!

This is one of my most favorite pictures! I took it when I was just beginning to get into photography. I showed the kids and they had fits of laughter over it! I am so excited that I'm going to be an aunt! My "little" brother and his wife are expecting their first child in April or May. I had the wonderful privilege today of taking maternity pictures for them. It was so much fun being creative and giving them memories they will be able to have forever.

I locked myself, along with my kids, out of my house the other night and I had to tear the screen to one of our windows to get in! My daughter was delighted to be able to crawl in and unlock the door for us! Anyway, I had that window open yesterday afternoon and got concerned when I saw my 2 year old hanging around it. I watched him as he pulled a chair up to it and attempt to crawl out. I couldn't help but grab my camera for the perfect photo opp! I now know to keep it closed, but I'm glad I have some photos to share of the typical Jonathan moment!

I have wanted to learn how to make storyboards for a long time and finally figured out how, thanks to a wonderful tutorial I found on flickr. It took me a while and I worked on it when I could and finally had to use programs other than photoshop. I'm very happy with the final result and look forward to having it mounted on gatorboard and hung in my dining room.

I took this picture of my now 5 year old when he was just a year old. I used a 35mm camera, so I scanned the picture once it was developed so that I could edit it and use it as a birthday announcement.

This is the finished product. I used Microsoft Picture It to keep the bandana red and turn the rest of the picture black and white. Then I added text. Even though it has nothing on CS4, Picture It is very easy to use and to this day I continue to use it.

This is a shot from an engagement shoot that I did for my cousin. I love the fact that it's off-centered. I did that on purpose. Before I edited it, the color was bland and the picture wasn't eye catching. With the added saturation and vignette, it sets itself apart as being a really cool photo.

Jonathan was just a month old when I took this picture. I'd had the idea in my head for long time and was going to use it as a scrapbook page in his album. I told my husband that I wanted to add the text "baby feet" at the bottom. So when I began my business and was thinking about a name, I couldn't get this picture out of my head. I took this picture for a couple of reasons. First of all, I love foot pictures. Second, Jonathan was our smallest baby and I wanted to capture how small his feet were compared to my other two children. As I thought about the picture and the meaning of it for me, I thought about how I love to capture those kind of memories when I take pictures. I like to call them "babyfeet moments." I knew that if I didn't get a picture of his feet soon that I would lose the opportunity because babies grow so quickly.

I take great pleasure in taking pictures of events and life in action because that's what we want to remember and it's what life's made of...making memories out of life's smallest moments.

My daughter's vaction bible school teacher gave her this paper umbrella, so when it began to rain that afternoon she begged me let her go outside with it. It was broken so it was no big deal, besides it made for some great shots!

Enjoying Life

I love to take pictures of my kids as they enjoy life. Capturing these moments gives me something to help me remember these times in their lives. This picture will always remind me that Jonathan loved turning on the water focet and drinking out of it. I will always remember also, that I had to keep a close eye on him because he would sneak when I wasn't looking and turn it on. Oh, the many messes he's made!

This picture will always remind me of the close relationship Susan and Jonathan have. I will remember his adoration of her and her desire to always take care of him. I hope they always remain this close!

My friend and I used to own a stationary business together. That was before everything went digital, including cardmaking. Wow! It's so much easier and less expensive to make cards now. This bowl was passed down to TJ's mom from his grandmother. It makes for a sentimental picture as well as absolutely adorable!

I've wanted to do a picture like this for a long time, but never planned ahead to get a blue bow. I purchased one from my local florist and will be able to keep it forever.

It's so funny how TJ seemed so tiny until I placed him in this toy wagon! He's the perfect Christmas baby!

Fall and Christmas were very busy for me as you can tell from my lack of entries. I had lots of great shoots and other projects such as making books for clients. A great way to perserve your photos is by having books made of them. Think about where all your pictures are. Maybe they're in scrapbooks, photo albums, a drawer, envelopes or boxes. My parents have a box FULL of pictures from my and my 2 brothers' childhood.
I would love to help you perserve your memories in a safe, organized and creative way. They can be on a disk or I can scan your pictures. This way you can also have a CD of those pictures. The Gift of A Memory

I had the honor of taking the Special Ed. senoir pictures last year for the high school at which my husband teaches. Some of the kids looked normal, but a few others were profoundly retarded. That was the most touching shoot I've ever had. I remember tearing up as I watched the parents doting over their grown child. I was so blessed that day. What I didn't realize is how blessed the parents were. I gave them the opportunity to experience a dream they had for their child. They wanted the same opportunity for their child that the "normal" kids were getting at that time in their lives. I realize now that I gave them more than a sense of normalcy, I gave them a memory. You see, 2 of the boys whose pictures I took died recently and the family's used their child's graduation picture on the front of the program for the funeral ceremonies. I'm so touched that I could provide them with a special way to honor their child's memory forever.

The "glow" application added just the right touch to this

I love that I was able to capture them just being

boys.

The river was the perfect background!

I used my flash, but turned it to where it would

bounce of the ceiling. This created a fill effect and

brought just the right amount of light in the right

places.

This was a very fun and photogenic couple.

When D. crossed his arms, I didn't correct it, but

used it to my advantage and had L. put her hand on

his arm. A good pose for friends!

I had so much fun with this shoot. These teens were off to their schools' homecoming and I was able to be apart of their excitement. Each couple was different and I enjoyed finding those differences and using them to my, and their, advantage. Thanks, C., for asking me to do this for them!

The flash can be your friend

My husband's friend and his wife were expecting with their first child, so I wanted to treat them to a shoot to help them remember this precious time. She and I met up at a local park and took some pictures. We then went back to her house where I took some great shots of her and the dad-to-be. I hate to admit that I had trouble with the lighting. That's something I'm still working on. I've been anti-flash for a long time and this time I missed out on some great shots because of it. My husband found a flash on sale and bought it for me. It's adjustable and I really like it. Just wish I would have used it! Thanks J. and A. for allowing me to capture these memories for you.

I love this! The flash would have come in handy here.
Instead of pointing it at their faces, I could have pointed it
upward and let it bounce off the ceiling. My shutter speed
was too low for the lighting. The flash would have illiminated
the blur on her face.

A New Location

I recently found a new place to take pictures and have been itching to take some clients there to try it out. I took my kids once, but they weren't interested in taking pictures. I had a shoot today and was finally able to use it. I love the results! The only downfall was that we shot early in the morning when the grass was still wet. I'm so glad I thought to take a blanket along!

Let's Dance

Here's an excerpt from a book I read a while ago, but decided to glance through last night. This reiterates what my wonderful and very supportive husband keeps telling me, especially before I leave for a shoot, "Just shoot!"
"I compare relaxing your shutter finger to dancing. When you're really dancing-when you're really connected-you just do it. Neither partner wonders where they're going next. They just go there.
In photography, as in dancing, when you hesitate, you stumble. Spontaneous photographs require not just spontaneous events, but spontaneous photographers: photographers who don't think too much about when to push the shutter button. They just push it.
Thinking too much can get you into trouble. These shots were very easy to achieve. With a little post-production...voila. My husband was out of town this evening, so to pass some time away I decided to dress my kids up in outfits they loved and took them outside. It was later in the evening so the lighting was great. Jonathan, the baby, was the most difficult. He just wanted to run around the yard naked:)

Creative, yet simple touches

I enjoying getting creative with the pictures I take. However, I enjoy simple additions most of the time instead of a complete overhall. The only changes I made to this picture were to make it black and white and to add the child's name. It needed a little color without all of it and for me, the name in red did it. It took me a while to find the right font. The cute and kiddish ones just didn't work, so I decided on one with a clean and mature look.

Aidan Flies

I love this picture! Aidan did not want to leave his mommy's side to take a few pictures by himself. Instead of getting stressed out and angry, mom laid down on the floor and began playing with him. I considered cropping her feet and legs out of the picture, but then thought they were a nice touch because you can see the cause of his happines. Adding the blur made Aidan the main focal point, but also allowed me to keep mom's feet and legs in the picture without the eye being drawn to them first.

I was recently invited to take pictures of precious baby Emma. She's 3 months old and already is full of personality. I had no problem getting great shots. Little Miss Haley J.

I'm so thankful that I can give the gift of photography. A friend recently had a baby girl and, because funds were tight and I couldn't afford to get her a gift at the time, I decided to give her a free shoot and CD as a gift. When Haley was three weeks old, her mom and I set up a shoot in her home. She was a little cranky, but we still got some adorable pictures. I didn't wait for her to stop crying, but snapped away, because she was acting herself. If I would have waited I don't think I ever would have gotten any pictures! Here's what resulted and I am so please with the results.

Angles and Props

Lately I've taken pictures of quite a few babies. It's so easy to do the same poses in each session, but I really try to mix it up and go for a different look each time. For the first picture, I placed baby J. in a deep wicker basket with a piece of white material hanging out. He looks so fragile against the heaviness of the basket. The white material breaks up the darkness and softens up the picture. In the second picture, the angle made all the difference. J's attention was on me and as I moved and spoke to him, he followed me. My aperture was on 2.8, so as I focused on his sweet face, his belly was blurred out.

Picture Perfect

This photo session is what I'm all about. I had the privilege of taking pictures of a dear friend and her family. Ingrid and I worked together teaching two year olds this year and my daughter and her son were in the same class. She painted the hallway in my house so I, inturn, took pictures of her family. We met up at the River Walk and quickly found a great spot for the shoot. The river made a beautiful backdrop and the overcast weather created the perfect lighting. A train passed on a nearby track, which caught sweet Christopher's attention and resulted in some precious pictures. What made the biggest difference is that everyone was so relaxed and I simply captured images as they enjoyed one another. Thanks Smith Family for a great experience!
